Next to crime movies and thrillers comes the revenge genre, which is the most engaging form of storytelling in the movie business. Fury, wrath, and revenge movie go hand in hand- healing and forgiveness don’t stand a chance in this intimidating genre. Revenge movies present action varieties- starting with the victim’s past to reason a strong vengeful vibe, the mission to take others down, destruction and bodies in the hero’s wake, and most often, a happy ending. A well-executed revenge movie can make the audience think and feel. It puts the audience in the shoes of the main character- the result- choices made, whether good or worst, are easily understood.
Be it movies or real life, the act of seeking revenge can change a person’s course of life. Whether a protagonist wants to avenge the death of his wife or is facing betrayal, or personal attacks, or is keen to rescue his abducted child, the scenarios may make them an entirely different person- something they never thought they were capable of. Sometimes, revenge causes more harm than good. However, the debate will always go on whether revenge is the best policy or not.
