Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Review: Global Release Feb 2, 2024

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash – When it comes to gaming, I usually find myself engrossed in the in-depth stories of third-person narrative games like The Last of Us. However, the prospect of stepping into the world of Jujutsu Kaisen and engaging in intense cursed technique demonstrations was enough to pique my interest. Forget my usual preference; Satoru Gojo’s presence alone was a compelling reason to delve into the realm of 2 vs. 2 battles.

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash Complex Controls and Strategic Gameplay

Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash’s controls surprised me with their complexity, requiring a strategic approach rather than relying on mindless button mashing similar to Tekken-style games. The inclusion of domain expansions and the ability to execute tag team moves with a nearby partner added layers to the gameplay. It’s not just about awareness; It is about planning and executing the right steps at the right time.

Race Against Time: Timed Battles and Respawn Limitations

Each fight is a race against time, which adds a sense of urgency and increases the stakes. Whether you’re unleashing Hollow Purple or executing Itadori-inspired combos, the timed nature of the conflict demands quick thinking and efficiency. The limited reaction after a knockout ramps up the pressure, making victory a delicate balance between offense and defense.

A Visual Feast: Graphics and Gameplay Experience

The game’s graphics blend seamlessly with the Jujutsu Kaisen universe, creating a visual feast for fans. The smooth gameplay enhances the overall experience, making the display of each cursed technique an exciting spectacle. Although I couldn’t figure out all the techniques in my brief playtime, the teasers of wall-running and tag team attacks increased my anticipation for the full release.

Journey Through Season 1: Story Mode and Outfit Changes

Beyond the adrenaline-pumping battles, the game offers a story mode that recaps the events of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1. From Todo and Itadori’s confrontation with Hanami to the interesting boogie woogie moments, the story mode promises to be a captivating journey. The addition of costume changes adds a touch of personalization, allowing players to become even more immersed in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe.

DLC Delights: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death

Excitement reached new heights upon the discovery of the DLC featuring the first arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Hidden Inventory/Premature Death. The prospect of getting control of the iconic Gojo vs. Toji fight heightened my anticipation. As a fan of Season 1, this additional content makes the game a must-play even after completing the main story.

Drawbacks and Hopes: Lack of Local Multiplayer

While the game performs well on various fronts, the absence of local multiplayer on the same console was disappointing. The desire to engage in epic battles with a partner at home was thwarted, with multiplayer interactions pushed to the online-only realm. However, the ability to face other players online compensates for this limitation.

Roster Highlights: Playable Characters and Anticipated Additions

The confirmed playable characters offer a diverse range, including Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, Nobara Kugisaki, Gojo Satoru, Maki Zen’in, Toge Inumaki, Panda, and the formidable Ryomen Sukuna. However, Nanami Kento’s absence from the initial roster makes fans eagerly await potential updates and additions.
